Excerpt: Election expenditures have risen dramatically in recent
years along with growing concern that large contributors command
undue influence over lawmakers and more recently, the judiciary.
This study questions whether elections are the best way to select
judges in Washington State and will explore the idea of public
financing programs for judicial elections.
